Spring Cleaning …for your body too!!!
Spring is the best time of year not only for cleaning your brick house but also for your more important house – your body.
So we have some tips for some ‘internal’ spring cleaning to help you feel great inside & out.
1. START TO REDUCE YOUR OVERALL FOOD INTAKE – ESPECIALLY ‘HEAVY/OILY’ FOODS
Remember, our digestive fire is strongest in winter, but reduces as we progress towards the warmer months. Eating the same foods now as you did in winter will be harder to digest, so begin going towards a ‘lighter diet’. Particularly in Spring, remember…’To feel Bright…Eat Light’.
2. CONSIDER A REGULAR MORNING ‘LIGHT DIET’/JUICE CLEANSE FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS
If you have indulged a bit too much during winter or feel your appetite/digestion is not as strong as it should be, once or twice a week, have a very light food intake up until lunchtime. E.g’s vegetable/fruit juices (not cold), light fruit, 1-2 piece of toast etc
3. SIP WARM / HOT GINGER TEA
Remember, the fresh ginger slices in warm/hot water. This is a great time of year to drink this as it helps eliminate any impurities & undigested food that have accumulated during the heavier eating winter months.
4. KEEP A REGULAR ROUTINE WHILE THE SEASONS CHANGE
According to Ayurveda, it’s on the change of seasons when we are most likely to get out of balance – people often get colds/fee a bit off at change of season. The more variable the ‘outside’ weather, the more important it is to try and keep your own ‘internal’ system on a regular schedule – sleep, mealtimes etc.
